At every wedding, we get to collaborate with some truly remarkable vendors who bring their unique vision and passion to the celebration. One of those standout creatives is Andrea Van Orsouw, a wedding photographer who captures the emotional, candid, blink-and-you-miss-it moments that make each day unforgettable.
Q&A with Andrea Van Orsouw Photography

1. How long have you been providing wedding services to couples?
I’m going on my 12th wedding season!
2. What is the one question couples can ask to get the most out of the services you offer?
“How can we set the day up so we actually get to be present?” This question shows me couples care more about how the day feels than just getting through a to do list. I help shape a timeline that gives you room to breathe and protects time for couples to actually be together. When couples aren’t rushing from one thing to the next, they get to truly experience their wedding and that’s when the most meaningful photos happen!
3. What do you enjoy most about working on a wedding day?
There’s a term called “collective effervescence”, which describes the intense energy, unity, and shared emotional experience people feel when they gather for a common purpose. Weddings are one of the clearest examples of that I’ve ever witnessed.
I get to watch entire groups of people laughing, crying, hugging, and celebrating together, all because two people chose eachother. Even after 12 years, I still get emotional about the power of that!
That kind of human connection is my favorite part of the wedding day. Getting to document those joyful expressions gives my work so much meaning, and it’s incredibly rewarding to give couples a way to see how loved and supported they were
4. What can wedding industry vendors collectively do to improve the quality of services provided to couples?
We can improve by truly listening to each couple instead of defaulting to what weddings are ‘supposed’ to be. Our experience is valuable, but it should support their vision, not override it. When we let go of ‘this is how it’s always been done’ and stay open to what actually feels right for them, we help create weddings that are more personal, more comfortable, and a lot more meaningful. It isn’t about us!
5. In your experience, what is a common misconception couples have about vendors in your area of expertise?
Many couples think hiring a photographer means spending hours posing and missing their own wedding. I actually work super hard to prevent that. I help create efficient timelines and organized family photo lists so that we handle the structured photos quickly so couples can get back to celebrating. Most of the day is about documenting real moments as they happen, and even couple portraits feel more like time together than a staged shoot!
