Q&A with David and Shayna Photography
The photos from your wedding day are some of the only things that last long after the celebration ends, which is why choosing the right photographer is such an important decision. One photography team we are excited to highlight is David and Shayna Photography, a Connecticut-based wedding photography duo known for their cinematic, natural, and emotion-driven approach. Since 2018, they have been helping couples preserve everything from the big, unforgettable moments to the quiet interactions that often become the most meaningful memories.

1. How long have you been providing wedding services to couples?
David and Shayna Photography has been photographing weddings since 2018 and every single one still feels just as special as the first. Over the years, we have had the incredible honor of being trusted with some of the most meaningful moments in our couples’ lives; from quiet, emotional vows to the joyful celebrations that follow.
Based in Connecticut, we’ve built a partnership that allows us to capture both the grand, editorial-style moments and the quiet, unscripted ones that often mean the most. Our style is cinematic and natural, focusing on genuine connection rather than stiff posing, so your photos feel as real as the moments themselves.
More than just photographers, we’re there to support you throughout the day; act as your hype crew, your calm presence, and the keepers of your story.
2. What is the one question couples can ask to get the most out of the services you offer?
“What does the full experience of working with you look like from start to finish?”
Wedding photography is so much more than just the hours on your wedding day. It’s the planning support, the timeline guidance, helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and the editing and storytelling that goes into your final gallery.
It’s also a chance to look through a full gallery and see how we document a day as it unfolds. We’re always capturing the big, cinematic moments and the quiet, emotional ones in between. When you look back, you shouldn’t just see how the day looked. You should remember exactly how it felt.
3. What do you enjoy most about working on a wedding day?
On wedding days, we love the small, unexpected moments. The first kiss is obviously romantic, but it’s the whisper and the laugh right after, when you forget anyone else is there, that really gets us. Those are the moments we live for, both on digital and film. And honestly, we also love a good dance floor. If we can belt out some songs with you and your crew, even better. Nothing beats a great party to close out the night!
4. What can wedding industry vendors collectively do to improve the quality of services provided to couples?
The best thing vendors can do is remove the guesswork. Make pricing easy to find, be clear about what’s included, and set real expectations from the start. Couples shouldn’t have to dig for answers or wonder what they’re paying for.
For us, that also means showing full wedding galleries, not just the curated highlights. We want couples to see how we document an entire day so they know exactly what their own gallery will feel like.
When couples feel informed and supported, they can stop second-guessing and actually enjoy the process. That confidence carries right into the wedding day, and that’s when the best moments happen.
5. In your experience, what is a common misconception couples have about vendors in your area of expertise?
A lot of couples think wedding photography is just showing up and taking photos. But so much happens before and after the day. We’re helping build timelines that leave room for real moments, making sure you feel natural on camera, and carefully editing every image so your gallery feels cohesive and timeless.
For us, it’s also about the experience. We want you to feel supported, relaxed, and present. And because we work as a best friend duo, we’re capturing the big moments and the quiet emotional ones at the same time. The goal is always to document how the day actually felt so you can relive it for years.
