At every wedding, we get to work with some truly incredible vendors who bring their own craft and passion to the event. One of those standout vendors is First Blush, a floral design studio that’s been creating stunning weddings since 2016. They offer full-service florals and even day-of coordination for their floral clients, something you don’t often see. It’s a seamless experience from start to finish, and their work always brings something personal and intentional to the day.
Q&A with First Blush Weddings

1. How long have you been providing wedding services to couples?
First Blush has been creating floral designs for weddings and social events since 2016. Over the years, we’ve had the joy of bringing dozens of events to life—each one as unique as the couple at the heart of it.
We also offer something a little unique—Full-Service Floral and Day-of Coordination for our floral clients. It’s not something you see often (especially in Connecticut!), but it’s a service we love providing. Because we’re already so involved in the look and feel of the day, stepping in to help everything run smoothly just feels like a natural extension of the work we’re doing.
That said, we absolutely love working with full-service planners and other day-of teams—this isn’t about taking their place. It’s just a way to offer our couples one less decision to make if they don’t already have someone lined up. And for those who want a little extra support without adding another vendor to the mix, it’s a really seamless experience.
2. What is the one question couples can ask to get the most out of the services you offer?
Ask: “What would you do if we gave you full creative freedom?”
When couples trust us with their vision—and give us space to design in a way that feels true to them—that’s where the magic happens. We take that trust seriously, and we’ll always go above and beyond to deliver something personal, intentional, and beautiful.
3. What do you enjoy most about working on a wedding day?
There’s something exhilarating about the behind-the-scenes energy—teams of creative professionals all racing the clock to make something beautiful look effortless.
But for me? It’s the walk down the aisle. The music swells, the crowd falls silent, and the couple locks eyes. In that moment, everything fades but the love and the promise they’re making. Everything else we do is just frosting on the cake (pun intended).
4. What can wedding industry vendors collectively do to improve the quality of services provided to couples?
Be transparent.
When we’re open and honest about pricing, timelines, expectations, and even limitations, we create more trust and less stress. Clear communication on the vendor side means more empowered, confident couples—and smoother, more successful events for everyone involved.
5. In your experience, what is a common misconception couples have about vendors in your area of expertise?
A big misconception is that florists hike prices just because it’s a “wedding”—when in reality, flowers are expensive, and weddings simply require a lot of them. The dreamy Pinterest-worthy designs people fall in love with often feature premium blooms like garden roses, orchids, and off-season peonies—all of which come at a cost, especially with rising wholesale prices across the board.
Beyond the blooms themselves, couples often don’t realize the sheer amount of time and skill that goes into their floral design. From our first conversation to clean-up after the big day, your florist may spend 60–70+ hours planning, sourcing, designing, and installing your flowers—with a full team involved for larger events. It’s not just about making things pretty; it’s a mix of logistics, craftsmanship, and adaptability (especially when dealing with the unpredictability of nature!).
Floristry is a bespoke service, and when done well, it’s seamless and magical—which sometimes makes it look easier than it actually is.
